 NTF staff member Gerome Rackley received the “Protecting the Light Award”. Gerome is a Family Care Manager in the Jacksonville FAST program. Gerome was working with the CPI on a case where the mother overdosed. They worked closely together to ensure she received treatment and was able to keep her child and has remained drug free.





Appointment of new Chief of Staff

I am pleased to announce the appointment of James L. (Jamie) Akins as Chief of Staff, effective September 16, 2017.  Jamie replaces Greg Milliken, who will retire September 15th after 13 years with NTF.  

Jamie began employment with Neighbor To Family in 2005, starting as a Case Manager at NTF-Daytona Beach.  He was promoted to Supervisor in 2009, Executive Director in 2010, and Vice President of Florida Programs in 2015.  In his new role, he will supervise Human Resources, CQI & Training, and Marketing/Development, in addition to responsibilities with the Cabinet, Board of Directors, and NTF legal issues.  Jamie holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida. 



10,000 Courses and Counting!

What a training year it has been. I am delighted to announce that collectively our teams have completed almost 10,000 classes! According to Relias records, a total of 9,843 trainings were taken from July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017.  What an accomplishment! One that would have made Gordon Johnson exceptionally proud.

NTF-Corporate Participates in Active Shooter Drill

The Corporate Office joined neighboring Brown & Brown Insurance today for a two-hour active shooter drill.  The Daytona Beach Police Department, Daytona Beach Fire Department, Florida Department of Transportation, and others assisted. Special thanks to Corporate Office Manager Shannen Sabino for coordinating NTF’s involvement.
